Sex, Chocolates, and Heaven

Published by admin under Faith

“The letter and spirit of Scripture, and of all Christianity, forbid us to suppose that life in the New Creation will be a sexual life; [Matthew 22:29 Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.

Are you a naked mole rat?

Published by admin under Faith

What exactly is a naked mole rat? We’re glad you asked. Naked mole rats are mammals that live underground. They have pink wrinkly skin and look like hot dogs that have been left in the microwave too long. They are typically about 3 inches long. Naked mole rats have large, sharp teeth, tiny, tiny eyes that remain shut most of the time and no external ears. They will almost never see the light of day and remain in underground tunnels that are sealed from the outside (resulting in very little fresh air).

Do you know that you are wired for worship?

Published by admin under Faith

To worship something means simply to magnify its worth. We are all like little telescopes set to magnify the worth of whatever we deem worthy of our worship.

Whom do you reflect?

Published by admin under Faith

Human beings tend to become like those they admire. Just think of the way young baseball players mimic the swing of their favorite player. Or think of the way that young singers imitate the voice of their favorite singer.

People instinctively praise what they enjoy

What about your girlfriend, boyfriend, spouse, or family? How about the best video games, camping trips, Broadway plays, vacation spots, American Idol singers, pro skaters, Armani suits, rebuilt hot rods, or even TV home decorators?

Why do bad things happen to good people?

Published by admin under Faith

This is somewhat of a trick question. Bad things don’t happen to good people for the simple reason that good people don’t exist. As we argued before all people are born into sin and are sinners. The thoughts of our heart are evil, and we constantly rebel against the One who created us. So let’s get this straight. There are no good people. Once we realize this, then the question is turned on its head: why do good things happen to bad people? This is a much better question, and the answer is God’s mercy.

I believe in God… isn’t that enough?

Published by admin under Faith

Most people say "Yes." In fact, many might even agree that there is just one God. Some might say, "I’ve made my peace with the big man upstairs." Others say something like, "I believe in God and live a pretty good life. Hey, as long as you are sincere, that’s all that matters, right?"

The Death of Truth on our Campus?

Published by admin under Faith

George Will once wryly commented that there is nothing too vulgar in our experience that would prevent us from flying a professor in from somewhere to defend it. Why this attack on our teachers and our institution? Because it is here, in our lecture halls, that were are being told that truth is dead. I encourage the reader to evaluate with me the issue of truth and relativism on our campus.
